DEI Summit (September 2021)

Join CDA and IDA for the second in a series of DEI Summits in 2021. This event explores how managing downtowns and public spaces has become much more than flower baskets and events. Experts will share the role cities and municipalities play in addressing racial inequities

Attendees will hear from city and municipal leaders who are taking different approaches to address systematic racism in their communities. Join these professionals for a combination of presentation and facilitated discussionDuring breakout sessions, attendees will discuss existing relationships with their respective municipalities and where they see meaningful opportunities for collaboration.

As municipalities and place management organizations continue to dive deeper into addressing issues of systematic racism within their communities, this event will pose the following questions:

  • How are municipalities addressing equity and equality?
  • How can cities and place management professionals partner for greater collective impact?
  • What actions and language will support cities and place management organizations as we commit to addressing the challenges within our organizations and our municipalities
  • What are cities, municipalities and place management organizations doing to address inequities?

The virtual event will be moderated by Erin-Kate Escobar of Erin-Kate Escobar Consulting and supported by Ishmael Nunez of BDS Planning.
